Things I like.....Part 8 & 9

Life can't be shared alone.....

I love travelling anywhere, it could  be to another country or just exploring new sites in place I already know, either way I still travel and it is so much fun, I don't get a chance to do it often but when I do I really love it. I am always travelling with someone because I hate discovering amazing things and there's no one to share it with, but most of the time I am with my mum because she is AMAZING....and loves adventure loool.
Here is my favorite place in the whole wide world and I have been here THREE time already and still find it amazing each time I go, I guess it just holds a special place in my heart...

I also love being with people who make my life that extra sweet, that would be my family and my closets friends, I am a sociable person by nature and I do enjoy meeting new people, I think it's fun and you never know what people can add to you so I never hide myself from first encounters.  

My family is too amazing for anyone to understand, they are very supportive and encouraging in anything I do, literally everything and for that reason I totally love them. They are funny and love life, they love to travel and eat food, yep eat food, our home tradition is watching movies and laughing at past mistakes and experiences. I have two beautiful sisters and a wonder woman for a mother. These people make me so proud to be part of a family and I see their love for me in everything they do for me.

Then there are my friends, now the reason why I love friends is because they are my chosen family, I get to say and choose who shares my life. And every person I chose has been nothing but the best in my life, helped me through tough times and cried with me through storms but never the less they remained through rocky moments.. Now I have friend from 11 years ago to friends I just met just this year but regardless of the time I've know them, they have proved to be lovely and caring people.

Hidden Places...........

Now I don't know about you, but I love love love being in places that I can't be found loool sounds crazy but it's true. I enjoy cosy little restaurants and cafes that are hidden in some back street of London and not too busy, I think think they are so chic and warming....I don't know how to really describe the feeling of being in a place that is small and cosy and you don't have to worry about bumping into a lot of people you know ect....you just feel so free and relaxed. Now I know a couple of people who love cafes just like me and are big fans of coffee not that I am, more like triple chocolate cheesecake (caffe Nero) amazing by the way, and it's not necessarily about the coffee or cake because I am sure you have coffee in the house, but rather the  experience of sitting down in a beautiful cosy and hidden cafe and just relaxing, now that is beautiful.

Now this is my favourite place to be.....located somewhere in south London and very very cosy I have to say, it is super amazing for getting away from the crowd and just breathing, now this one especially does draw a lot of families and mothers with children because it is located in a family orientated area but never the less still peaceful. 

Another thing that I truly love is boutiques, again those that are hidden of the main street or are in places that people don't often go to, I love my style and I believe in people finding their own style and letting their personality shine through their style being it in clothing, hair, make up or just your home anyway will do, and when I find someone who has the same things as me, it is upsetting, now it sounds silly because of course people are going to buy the same thing as you whether you like it or not....but I really try to buy items that the majority of people wouldn't buy or wear colours that most people wouldn't wear, I fight not to follow trends or if I do, it probably would be in my own way just so that I don't blend in with the surroundings. 

Now here is one of the places that I love to go to so I can buy something unique.

I absolutely love this place love it because it is famously known for its cool markets and vintage stores.

Now this place sells the most amazing bagels sooooo yummy.........just around the corner from my Uni so I come here for some yum yum bagel.

Inspiring your mind

Before I studied Fashion I wasn't a fan of museums at all, I found them boring and long and not to mention really cold for some odd reason, the food is over priced and only tourist go to museums. But due to the fact that I had to research for my design work, I found myself falling in love with them more and more, they are quite and they contain a lot of inspiration, I can literally spend the whole day in a museum and don't get bored now looool, weird I know but seriously they are educational and I am not a big fan of history and the whole back in 18th century thing, but I am a FAN of art and drawings with materials and colours the total package. I must admit that most of my design work was inspired from something I saw in a museum.

Here are a few of my favourite museums some are just for fashion, textile and design others are general..........

               Fashion and Textile Museum which focuses on British and international fashion, and textile design from 1950's to the present days. The museum is Situated in the heart of fashionable Bermondsey Village 

Design Museum, which covers products, industrial, graphic, fashion and architectural design, the museum is based in central London near the River Thames in Tower Bridge.

And finally.....The Victoria and Albert Museum, which is the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design, they host a number of fashion shows for grad students and they are amazing....this museum is based in London Cornwall Road, down the road from Knights Bridge 

  and cross the road from the National History Museum. 

There are many more museum to check out that do a lot of art and design for example the Fashion Museum in Bath and the Metropolitan Museum of art, Tate Modern/Britain, The Barbican and The National gallery   ect..... some food for thought if you are interested in inspiring your mind. But I just put up my favourite ones.

Things I like.....Part 5

Interior decorating.....

I believe someone's home is their resting place but also the décor of that home is a reflection of the person's style and what they are. If you were to walk into a south African home you are bound to see some sort of print in the house whether on the wall, carpet or a painting of some sort even a picture frame, whatever the item is, you are guaranteed to see a print. I have friends from Jamaica and in every house I have been in I saw flowers, real of fake there were flowers in the house. Now some will say that it's something traditional as in something they grew up with, something their parents used to have in the house and others will not even notice that it's something they inherited and brought into their homes.

But I believe that your home should reflect your style and who you are a a person, for example if you are confident and bold your house should have bright colours and bold décor.

I style more elegant and chic but I also know that I am fun and confident can be bold at times as well. So I brought together a little illustration of my ideal home.

I really like these colours for a home, I think they brighten up any room and make it look more spacious and clean. I chose light green because it's fresh, young and bold and I chose the brown because it's comfortable and warm so the house doesn't feel cold and empty, the white is very elegant and chic which compliments the glass windows and mirrors and it reflects the natural light which makes any room look bigger. I chose a modern décor because it's chic and it doesn't create a lot of clutter in the house.

Another thing that I am big fan of is, fashion photography !!!! I think just like illustration it expresses a person's point of view on fashion it also captures the mood of fashion.

Back to your Roots.....

I wouldn't call myself a fully cultural girl, not at all, more like a mixture of Western style and a hint of culture. I still love and celebrate my culture but I do not drown myself in it, to the point of having cultural clothing. I grew up in two different worlds and I love both because they made me who I am today and my style is influenced by them. I consider myself a very colourful person and I believe that comes from my African culture but at the same time I have a elegance to my style and that come from the Western culture I have grown to love.

Here are some pictures of the type of mixed Western and African style I love, and find very inspiring.....

 I love the colour in this picture, I think it works really well with mood and scene.

I love the mixture of the ordinary t-shirt and African skirt, then the over sized accessories. 

Here I love the mixture of prints and colour,plus the over sized accessories I think everything looks amazing and this the type of style that influences me.
